PSV Eindhoven have reportedly set their sights on a late swoop for Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee following an injury to forward Alassane Plea.
The reigning Eredivisie champions, according to GetFootballNewsBene, have identified United’s No.11 as their ‘dream candidate’ to lead their line for the season ahead.
It’s said to be ‘clear’ that PSV will make an imminent approach. However, they have acknowledged that a deal, one that would see Zirkzee return to his native Netherlands, is going to be ‘extremely complicated’.

They’re not wrong. In fact, from United’s perspective, it’s likely considered impossible.
Already this week, the Reds have rebuffed an approach for Zirkzee from Napoli in the aftermath of Romelu Lukaku’s injury layoff, instead directing them to an alternative option in the form of Rasmus Hojlund, who’s now in negotiations to make the switch to Naples.
Despite facing an uncertain Old Trafford future following a turbulent start to his United tenure, Zirkzee is poised to play an integral role in Ruben Amorim’s squad throughout 2025/2026, so much so that he ranks higher than his £64 million counterpart Hojlund in the coach’s pecking order.

Joining PSV would allow the 24-year-old to play Champions League football in the coming months, but representing the 20-time champions of England week in, week out is an opportunity few can pass up on.
Zirkzee is now preparing to do so for his second term, where he’ll be figuring out how he can bounce off of new teammates Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
