Darwin Nunez is expected to leave Liverpool this summer with both club and player open to an exit.
Nunez has struggled to nail down a regular role this season with the 25-year-old having started just eight Premier League games.
The Uruguay international has failed to live up to expectations since his arrival from Benfica for an initial fee of £64m in 2022.
Nunez was subject of interest from Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr in the January transfer window, an approach that was turned down by Liverpool as the Reds sought to compete on multiple fronts.
However, Fabrizio Romano has reported that an exit is expected in the summer with that interest from Saudi Arabia and Europe set to be renewed.
Nunez is understood to be ‘open’ to a new chapter as he seeks regular first-team football. Since arriving at Liverpool, 41 of his 138 league appearances have come from the bench. This season, he’s netted just seven times in all competitions, a decline in the 18 he scored under Jurgen Klopp in 2023/24.
Liverpool continue to be linked with signing a forward this summer, amid Nunez’s interest in an exit and Diogo Jota’s injury record.
The Reds have sent scouts to watch Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Etikike, while Brighton’s Joao Pedro and Newcastle’s Alexander Isak are also players of interest.
