Nottingham Forest and West Ham United will both be looking to go into the international break on a positive when they face off at the City Ground on Sunday 31st August at 2pm. The Tricky Trees have taken four points so far in the new Premier League campaign, while the Hammers sit bottom of the table after losing their first two.
Nottingham Forest have won their past four home games against West Ham across all competitions without conceding. They put in a strong showing against Brentford with a 3-1 win on the opening day, and another similar scoreline could be on the cards here against a Hammers side that has been smashed by 3-0 by Sunderland and 5-1 by Chelsea.
West Ham have faced the most shots on target in the Premier League this season (12). Between Graham Potter’s first game and the end of the 2024-25 season, the Hammers had faced the joint 10th most shots on target of any side (77).
Chris Wood has scored 13 league goals at the City Ground since the start of last season. Only Mo Salah (14) has scored more home goals in the league during that time. Wood has also scored eight Premier League goals against West Ham United, his joint-highest against any opponent. He also has eight goals in his last 10 home appearances overall, netting a brace on MD1 against Brentford.
Nottingham Forest got their 2025-26 campaign off to the best possible start in the Premier League. The Tricky Trees were excellent in their 3-1 win over Brentford on the opening weekend, buoyed by a busy summer in the transfer window. Boosted by their promotion to the Europa League, the Tricky Trees have wasted no time in bolstering their squad. Last weekend they managed a 1-1 draw with Palace and will be happy with four points from six to start the campaign.
Graham Potter’s first full season at West Ham didn’t start well. The Hammers were well beaten by newly-promoted Sunderland away from home, offering little in their 3-0 defeat. They then faced Chelsea at the London Stadium last Friday and suffered a 5-1 defeat, a rather humiliating loss. West Ham sit bottom and pressure is already starting to mount on Potter.
Nicolas Dominguez is the only injury absentee for Nottingham Forest, who also seem to be announcing a new signing every day.
Crysencio Summerville is expected to be out until after the international break, while Luis Guilherme is also injured.
Nottingham Forest have won their past three league games against West Ham. They’ve also won the past four meetings at the City Ground across all competitions.
