Nottingham Forest have submitted a ‘secret bid’ for Brentford’s in-form striker Yoane Wissa and hope to find common ground to seal a deal for the 28-year-old.
Wissa played a key role in helping the Bees finish tenth in the league table by scoring 19 of their 66 goals in the league, with their good form resulting in manager Thomas Frank being picked for the Tottenham Hotspur job.
His form has not gone unnoticed, with Brentford’s fellow Premier League club Nottingham Forest ready to push to take him to the City Ground.
Nottingham Forest are not new to Wissa’s profile, having tracked him in the winter transfer window as well and failed with an offer last summer.
He remains a player that the Tricky Trees like and admire, with new efforts now under way.
On Thursday night, according to Africafoot, a ‘secret bid’ was sent to Brentford for Wissa from Nottingham Forest.
Wissa is valued at between €30m and €40m by Brentford and, with Nottingham Forest keen to do a deal, a move could happen.
It is suggested that Nottingham Forest are ready to meet the financial demands of a deal.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s team are hopeful that common ground will be found in the coming days and weeks to take Wissa to the City Ground.
The Nottingham Forest proposal is expected to be received favourably by the player’s camp as well.
A careful consideration of Nottingham Forest’s offer is now being made by Brentford, given Wissa being into the final year of his deal.
The club are going through a transitional period after seeing their long-term manager Frank leave for Tottenham.
The club are now evaluating their options to replace him at the earliest chance so that the new boss is given ample time to get his philosophy in.
Whether the new manager has a say on Wissa’s potential transfer remains to be seen.
