As reported by Sky Germany, Nottingham Forest have a verbal agreement in place with Borussia Dortmund midfielder Giovanni Reyna.
It had been reported earlier this week that the 21-year-old could be set to leave Dortmund in the coming days due to Reyna’s agent Jorge Mendes offering the American to nine different clubs. However, it has now become clear that it is Premier League side Nottingham Forest that are closing in on his signature.
It is understood that both sides are looking to agree on a loan until the end of the season. Nevertheless, Forest are keen to have an option to buy clause inserted into the contract and are currently trying to strike a deal with Die Schwarzgelben.
Regardless, it is a move that appears to be imminent, with Reyna set to be offered considerable more game time in England’s top flight. With the return of Jadon Sancho, Reyna has dropped further down the pecking order at the Westfalenstadion, leaving him to become frustrated by his lack of opportunities.
After appearing to be yet another one of Dortmund’s phenomenal future stars, injuries have plagued the American’s development in recent years. A move away from BvB could see Reyna open a new chapter in his career as he looks to reach the heights he once seemed destined for.
