Chelsea are moving closer to reaching an agreement with Borussia Dortmund for winger Jamie Gittens.

The West Londoners are in negotiations with Dortmund over a deal to sign the England u-21 international. After having an opening offer rejected, Chelsea are edging closer to an agreement.

Sky Germany are reporting that Chelsea are making the ‘greatest effort’ to sign Gittens despite interest from rival clubs. As things stand, no rival suitor has made a serious attempt to ‘hijack’ Chelsea’s deal for the 20-year-old.

However, Chelsea are yet to meet Dortmund’s demands with director Sebastien Kehl standing firm on the German side’s valuation.

Dortmund have set an asking price in excess of £50m for Gittens, who scored 11 goals in all competitions during a breakout campaign in 2024/25.

The winger ranked second in the Bundesliga for successful dribbles and made more progressive carries per 90 minutes than any other player.

Chelsea are in the market for a left-winger after rejecting the chance to turn Jadon Sancho’s loan from Manchester United into a permanent deal.

Despite an obligation to sign Sancho for £25m, Chelsea chose an opt-out penalty of £5m after a failure to agree personal terms with the player. Sancho has since returned to Manchester United and is exploring his options.

The Blues are also without Mykhailo Mudryk, who is provisionally suspended after failing a doping test. The Ukraine international could face up to a four-year ban.
