Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes are making headlines.

With Newcastle United in sixth place with two games remaining, this duo are crucial for Eddie Howe’s side to see this week out successfully.

United having away games against Man U tonight and Brentford on Sunday, knowing two wins will guarantee a top six finish.

Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes are also making headlines for other reasons….

Arsenal have begun discussions over a move for Newcastle United star, Bruno Guimaraes.

That’s according to one report, with the Gunners said to be keen on another midfielder to bolster their squad this summer.

Transfer journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed via CaughtOffside that Arsenal have “made contact with [Guimaraes’] camp” over a move this summer – but has stressed that the north Londoners will not be triggering the £100 million release clause set by Newcastle.

“Arsenal appreciate Guimaraes, but have no intention to trigger his clause meaning they would only enter the race if the price drops,” Jacobs says. “As long as the clause is active, Newcastle are going to simply point to its value, but it’s understood offers exceeding £80m could be entertained should Guimaraes wish to leave for a Champions League club.”

In FourFourTwo’s view, it’s likely that Arsenal have sounded out Bruno over his interest in a move but that such contact does not necessarily move a transfer will happen. Manchester City are still said to be leading the queue for the midfielder, according to Jacobs, and the Gunners’ interest in both Bruno and Toon team-mate Alexander Isak means that Mikel Arteta may opt to just sign the latter instead of both.’

A few things to note.

When you have players of the quality of Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes, there will always be other clubs enviously looking at them.

When you have players such as them at your club, it also ensures that the media are going to write about them when it comes to transfer speculation.

We have come to expect this as Newcastle United fans BUT honestly, it is just woeful these days.

Like me, you will see countless ‘reports’ such as this one above, that either make things up themselves, or copy and paste what other ‘journalists’ have came out with.

It is just the same stuff repeated time and again, with the odd bit added or taken away.

It is laughable to believe that there is a special clause where Newcastle United will be forced to sell Bruno Guimaraes to a ‘Champions League’ club. What is the point of having the £100m release clause that ends on 30 June 2024? As surely only a ‘Champions League’ club would be where Bruno Guimaraes would consider moving to IF HE WAS LEAVING, plus only a few ‘ Champions League’ clubs could afford him.

Does anybody really believe that Arsenal are ‘in talks’ with Bruno Guimaraes?

I always find it laughable as well that fans of these other clubs, especially Arsenal’s, whose clubs are being linked with Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak. I often see / hear their fans saying how they think Arsenal (or whoever) should sign Bruno and/or Isak but at the same time say no way are they worth £100m+.

Bruno cost Newcastle £41m two and a half years ago and has become one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and indeed Europe, proving himself week after week, yet they claim Newcastle would be willing to sell him for £80m. When the likes of Rice was bought for £105m and Chelsea paying more than that for both Fernandez and Caicedo.

As for Alexander Isak, Newcastle paid £63m for him in summer 2022 and he has been superb, especially this season, scoring for fun. His average goal per minutes and goal per shots better than even Haaland. Yet the likes of Arsenal fans see a £100m+ valuation as ludicrous.

What are find particularly embarrassing about this nonsense above is this line:

‘…the Gunners’ interest in both Bruno and Toon team-mate Alexander Isak means that Mikel Arteta may opt to just sign the latter instead of both.’

How disrespectful if that?

There is no indication whatsoever that either Isak or Bruno want to leave Newcastle United, as well as very definitely no sign of Eddie Howe and NUFC wanting to sell one or both of them, yet this nonsense report makes out as though it is simply a case of Arsenal deciding whether they are going to buy one or both of them!!!

Hmmm, I think Newcastle United would have something to say about that.

Like they would just stand back and let their best players leave AND at bargain prices according to the fantasists in the media and amongst the Arsenal fanbase.
