The Magpies confirmed the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
It has been reported that Elson has completed a permanent move to Boro while Gibson has been loaned to the Teessiders until the end of the season.
Elson has spent the last five-and-a-half years with Newcastle United. She was a member of the side that won back-to-back promotions in 2022/2023 and 2023/2024. The midfielder has found the step up to Barclays Women’s Championship level challenging and she has made just three appearances for Newcastle United in all competitions this season.
Gibson has been on Newcastle United’s books for four-and-a-half years. Like Elson, she was also a back-to-back promotion winner with The Magpies. Gibson has been fielded on just three occasions by Newcastle United head coach Becky Langley this season and the loan move to Boro will allow the player to get some much needed regular game time under her belt.
Elson and Gibson are the first outgoings at Newcastle United in the January transfer window. There is likely to be further changes to personnel at the club between now and the end of the month.
