Newcastle United have shown strong interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, according to the Express.

Despite Wolves only just recently making Strand Larsen’s loan move from Celta Vigo permanent, Newcastle are keen on acquiring him this summer.

Strand Larsen impressed in his first Premier League campaign last time out, netting 14 league goals for Wolves, including seven in the final 10 matches.

The Norwegian put up last season’s numbers on remarkable efficiency, hitting the back of the net with 26 percent of his shots.

He also showed his vast finishing range with eight right-footed goals, three left-footed and three headed goals.

There has been no formal contact between Newcastle and Wolves for Strand Larsen, but that may change.

The Magpies are aggressively exploring the striker market, having parted ways with Callum Wilson and with Alexander Isak recently demanding to leave.

Newcastle could sign two new centre forwards this summer, with Benjamin Sesko and Yoane Wissa also of interest alongside Strand Larsen.

The prospect of selling Strand Larsen so soon after making his move permanent presents a dilemma for Wolves.

They sold Matheus Cunha to Manchester United this summer, and it is unlikely they will be willing to part ways with their second top scorer from last season.

Newcastle have endured a frustrating summer window, missing out on multiple targets, and their transfer plans have been put into further jeopardy by Manchester City’s impending acquisition of James Trafford.
