In a recent interview with Geordie Boot Boys, journalist Graeme Bailey revealed that Newcastle United have set their sights on Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo. Bailey said,

“I do think Newcastle United will be targeting Bryan Mbeumo.

“I think Newcastle United could be leading the chase for him at the moment.

“They like him and he could be available for a good price – possibly under £60million. He’s a good player who fits in with Eddie Howe.

“There are also players in Europe on their radar, such as Johan Bakayoko at PSV and Maghnes Akliouche at Monaco. Newcastle have already done a lot of work on these players.”

Mbeumo’s Impressive Form In The Premier League This Season

Mbeumo is having a decent campaign at the English club as he has been responsible for scoring a lot of important goals for them in the Premier League. The 25-year-old has banged in 18 goals and earned seven assists in 37 matches for the Bees this season across multiple competitions.

The Cameroonian talent has been a reliable performer in the final third based on his average of 2.2 shots, 1.9 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even distributed the ball relatively well, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 75% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

What Will Mbeumo Add To Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe’s Side?

Mbeumo has got the pace to get in behind the opposition backline and can complete a few dangerous dribbles in the final third. He can strike the ball with power from long range and has got the vision to create a few inviting chances in and around the opponent’s penalty area.

The Cameroonian wing wizard can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals from the right flank. He mainly operates as a right-sided wide player but can also play as a striker down the middle if required.

Mbeumo would add more firepower to Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe’s attack. He has what it takes to fight for regular first-team football at St. James’ Park next season.

At 25, Mbeumo’s best years are ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for the Magpies to consider in this summer transfer window. He has already got plenty of experience in the Premier League under his belt and won’t take much time to settle into life at the Tyneside club.
