Newcastle Suffer Setback to Replace Liverpool Target With 19 Goal Scorer From PSG | OneFootball

Gonçalo Ramos’ future at PSG has been up in the air all summer, fueling ongoing transfer speculation around the Portuguese striker. While recent indications point to him possibly staying in Paris, at least one Premier League club is still working to sign him.

Ramos closed out the 2024-25 campaign with 19 goals and six assists in 46 appearances. Even with that production, it’s unclear whether he’ll secure a consistent starting role at PSG, though reports suggest the club would prefer to keep him.

Earlier this month, CaughtOffside noted that Ramos’ limited playing time has drawn interest from several Premier League and Serie A sides eager to add a proven scorer. Newcastle United, Manchester United, Aston Villa, and Liverpool are all said to be exploring potential moves.

Liverpool view Ramos as a long-term option, while Manchester United reportedly consider him more of a backup plan if other striker pursuits fall through. For now, Liverpool’s focus remains on Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, but if that deal doesn’t materialize, Ramos could quickly rise to the top of their list.

Sky Sports’ Keith Downie reports that Newcastle are showing interest in Ramos as a possible replacement for Alexander Isak.

With only two weeks left in the transfer window, though, it wouldn’t be an easy deal to pull off and would represent a significant move. For now, Newcastle’s interest in the 24-year-old Portuguese forward hasn’t gone beyond that initial stage.

Recently, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano weighed in on Ramos being Plan B for Newcastle United if the pursuit of Benjamin Sesko doesn’t go their way.

“As of now, Sesko has not decided yet,” Romano wrote in GIVE ME SPORT’s newsletter. “Newcastle are waiting. Ramos is appreciated but PSG want to keep him, it’d take a huge proposal to try change things.”
