It ended Newcastle 4 Leicester 0.
A match that was United dominated from beginning to end.
Finding ways through the Leicester midfield and defence, time after time, the Foxes somehow saw themselves only one down at half-time.
That didn’t last long.
Five minutes after the break and Newcastle were 3-0, then cruised the rest of the match but still created multiple opportunities, but only took one of them.
Looking at the individuals in black and white, interesting to get an independent perspective on how this played out.
‘Whoscored ratings use data from every single Premier League match, over 200 raw statistics included in the automated calculation of a player’s rating, weighted according to their influence within the game.
Every event of importance is taken into account, with a positive or negative effect on ratings weighted in relation to its area on the pitch and its outcome.’
Now whoscored have published their independent player ratings for this Newcastle 4 Leicester 0 match:
(The Whoscored system can only show a maximum of four subs on their display at any one time, Will Osula was rated 6.1)
As you can see, ten players who started the match received a rating of 7.0 or more.
With all of them playing for Newcastle United.
A bit harsh on Tino Livramento (6.7) making him the odd man out.
Alexander Isak (9.7) rated man of the match and he was sensational, a goal and an assist just giving a small indication of how good he was today. Though actually he could and should have had a hat-trick as well.
Two good finishes from Jacob Murphy (8.5) but actually I thought he was one of our least best players today, rather than only Isak rated as better.
Though Gordon (8.4) and Hall (8.4) were excellent, as the next highest rated.
