New Liverpool star given immediate HARSH lesson

Liverpool have wasted absolutely no time at all in giving one new arrival a very harsh lesson. That’s how it is at Anfield.

Liverpool are bringing about the changes this summer. That's in stark contrast to 2024 where the Reds only added one first-team player in Federico Chiesa.

Chiesa was a last-gasp addition from Juventus but one who, ultimately, wasn't really needed. Arne Slot never really turned to the Italian across Liverpool's triumphant Premier League campaign.

There was another attempt to bring in a player for last season in Martin Zubimendi but he ultimately rejected Liverpool. That was all the Reds tried to do for Slot's debut campaign.

However, there was another deal struck. Giorgi Mamardashvili signed from Valencia before immediately going back on loan to the Spanish side.

He finally becomes a Liverpool star this summer, linking up with the Reds and challenging Alisson Becker for a first-team place. But he's also had an immediate lesson in life at Anfield.

Mamardashvili given immediate lesson

Mamardasvhili arrives at Liverpool as one of the most impressive goalkeepers in the world. At 24, the Georgian boasts the potential to be a true world-beater.

Of course, he'll know there's a difficult challenge ahead to usurp the current no.1 at Liverpool. Alisson Becker may well be the best goalkeeper on the planet right now.

Certainly, Liverpool wouldn't swap him for anyone - the hope is that Mamardashvili ascends to the same level as the Brazilian winds down. But again, it's just hope and the new arrival must reach levels he's never reached before in order to complete the task.

However, he's not the only one doing that. Mamardashvili is yet to wear a Liverpool shirt and yet he's already received a lesson in the levels at Anfield.

That's because the Reds moved to sign Armin Pecsi this week. Pecsi is one of the most promising goalkeepers around and is nominated for the Golden Boy award.

At 20, he's one for the future but he's not actually much younger than Mamardashvili. In fact, there's a legitimate situation here where Pecsi ends up surpassing his senior teammate if he develops a certain way.

Mamardashvili hasn't just got to wait out Alisson, then. He's also got to see off the challenge of another elite talent.

Those are the levels at Liverpool. Let's see if he's up to it.
