Former France international Alexandre Lacazette is the latest big name to join the Roshn Saudi League after his move to newly promoted NEOM Sports Club was confirmed on Tuesday.

The ex-Olympique Lyon forward, the second-highest scorer in the French club’s history, will be charged with helping the ambitious new boys make an impact upon their first appearance in the top flight.

NEOM SC won promotion to the 2025-26 RSL by winning last season’s First Division League – a feat masterminded by former Al Taawoun manager Pericles Chamusca.

In a social media post to announce Lacazette’s signing, NEOM SC said: “From the cradle of heritage in Lyon to the frontier of the future at NEOM SC. Sharpshooter [Alexandre Lacazette] has arrived.”

Lacazette, 34, enjoyed two spells at Lyon either side of a five-year spell at English Premier League club Arsenal from 2017.

During his time in England, in which he played alongside current Al Qadsiah striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Lacazette scored 54 times in 158 Premier League appearances and helped the North London outfit win the 2020 FA Cup final.

Now in the RSL, Lacazette adds his name to other prominent former Lyon players in the Saudi Arabian top flight, including new NEOM SC teammate Said Benrahma and Al Ittihad’s 2024-25 title-winning pair Karim Benzema and Houssem Aouar.

Meanwhile, on Monday NEOM SC had announced the signing of Ivorian midfielder Amadou Kone from Reims.
