Napoli have reportedly submitted a proposal to sign Jonathan David from Lille, according to Calciomercato.
The Serie A club are looking to boost their attacking options and have identified David as a key target.
Antonio Conte’s team are currently leading the Serie A title race and have impressed with their performances this season.
Despite their strong form, the club are still aiming to improve their frontline as they prepare for the next campaign.
Romelu Lukaku has led the line this season and scored 12 league goals. However, Napoli want to bring in another striker.
David has been on their list for some time, and he could be on his way to Italy if talks progress well.
David has enjoyed a productive spell since he joined Lille in 2020.
He is set to become a free agent at the end of the season and is now looking for a new challenge.
Several top European clubs have shown interest in signing him, including Juventus and Inter Milan.
However, Napoli have made an offer to the striker and are pushing to finalise a deal.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed that talks between David and Napoli are at an advanced stage.
The 25-year-old has been in fantastic form this season for Lille, scoring 25 goals and providing 12 assists in all competitions.
Napoli hope his experience will add depth and sharpness to their attack next season.
David could become a key figure in Napoli’s squad if both parties reach an agreement soon.
