Napoli will have to find a new winger, as Dan Ndoye has decided to join Nottingham Forest. The Tricky Trees lodged the decisive raise on Monday, coming to terms with Bologna. The package will exceed the €40M threshold, add-ons included, Alfredo Pedullà informs.
The Partenopei are now contemplating three names in particular, but the shortlist can easily expand. They are eyeing RB Leipzig’s Antonio Nusa, Raheem Sterling, and Mattia Zaccagni. Despite some reports, they haven’t tendered a €35M offer for the Norwegian ace at this stage. Plus, it’ll be challenging to convince Lazio to part ways with their star, as they wouldn’t be able to replace him.
Nottingham Forest had to pay a premium to persuade Ndoye to pick them over Napoli. They’ll hand him €5M annual wages, Tuttomercatoweb reports. They needed to compensate for not playing in the Champions League. On the other hand, their coffers were full after selling Anthony Elanga to Newcastle United for €60M. Moreover, the Swiss international was very open to heading to the Premier League next.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Partenopei have had the most tangible talks for Sterling. However, they could soon pivot toward other high-profile outcasts such as Jack Grealish, Federico Chiesa, and Alejandro Garnacho, whom they wanted in January.
Selling stars to the Premier League is par for the course for Bologna, and Sam Beukema was an outlier. Despite the satisfying fee, it’s a blow for them too, as perhaps they had a shot at keeping him. It surely is for the Partenopei too, especially since he’s not going to a top team. With his unique traits, he would have been an enticing toy in Antonio Conte’s hands.
