Napoli, Man City, and Chelsea Target Has Release Clause

Vanja Milinkovic-Savic has been one of the best-performing Serie A goalies this season, and a few big clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City, and Napoli are keeping tabs on him. Torino are in a challenging spot because there’s a €20M release clause in his contract, TuttoSport informs (via Today).

It can be activated by Italian and foreign sides in July. It’s unlikely the parties will agree to a new deal and eliminate it before the start of the summer window. He’s tied to the Granata until 2026, plus a club option.

Manchester City and Chelsea are taking a look at Milinkovic-Savic as they aren’t fully satisfied with their goalies, while Napoli could add another quality option, even though they will re-up with Alex Meret.

The 28-year-old has conceded 34 goals and kept 10 clean sheets this season and has denied 4 penalty kicks. He has the highest percentage of key saves among Serie A shot-stoppers. The Granata signed him when he was a youngster and loaned him out multiple times before handing him the starting job. He spent time at Manchester United when he was a prospect.

Our Take on Milinkovic-Savic, Napoli, Manchester City, and Chelsea

Torino probably thought the release clause was robust enough not to be a threat when they agreed to his last renewal in 2023, but his growth has been remarkable and a little surprising given the level he reached. The Partenopei will acquire a sound deputy, but he’d be way overqualified and too expensive. Since he’s not young, he’d be a fine signing for a second-tier club or a top one that wants more competition between the sticks.
