Napoli have never given up on Bologna defender Sam Beukema, who is now close to joining the Partenopei.

Bologna centre-back Beukema is close to joining Napoli.

The Dutch defender has always been the Partenopei’s priority target in defence despite Bologna’s €30m asking price.

Napoli are determined to narrow the Rossoblu’s request and are really close to crossing the finishing line to give Antonio Conte his second defensive reinforcement of the summer after Luca Marianucci.

Bologna were reluctant to sell Beukema this summer and even offered the Netherlands international a contract extension at the beginning of June.

Beukema’s two-year spell at Bologna

The 26-year-old defender has made 65 Serie A appearances with Bologna and won the Coppa Italia in the 2024-25 campaign.

Beukema joined Napoli from AZ Alkmaar for just €8m in the summer of 2023 and has played 80 games across all competitions with Bologna, scoring two goals.

During his time at the Dall’Ara, he also made eight appearances in the Champions League.
