Jamal Musiala says he hopes to be fully recovered from a hamstring injury in time for this summer's FIFA Club World Cup 2025, which takes place from 14 June to 13 July in the USA.
Musiala has been out of action since going off injured in Bayern's 3-1 win at Augsburg on 5 April, missing key fixtures against the likes of Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga and Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League as a result.
"It really hurt to watch the [Champions League exit to Inter] on TV without being able to do anything," Musiala told German daily Sport Bild. "I suffered with the boys. I think we put up a great fight despite the [two defeats] and deserved more," the 22-year-old added, before elaborating on his potential comeback.
"I have a big goal: the Club World Cup. It's all about prestige, income for the club and a new major title. And we want to win it! I want to be back on the pitch in the USA," Musiala enthused.
Bayern kick off their Club World Cup campaign on 15 June against Group C rivals Auckland City at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati. They take on Boca Juniors at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium five days later, before playing Benfica at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on 24 June. The record champions could then face up to four knockout matches should they reach the final to determine the first ever Club World Cup champion.
Featuring 32 of the best teams in world football, the summer stage is befitting of the uber-talented Musiala. Widely regarded as one of the game's most exciting talents, he's poised to end 2024/25 with a fifth Bundesliga winners' medal after helping Bayern go eight points clear of holders Bayer Leverkusen with 12 goals and four assists across 25 league games prior to his injury.
The ex-Chelsea youngster also played his part as Germany reached the UEFA Nations League Final Four tournament, which will be held in Munich and his hometown of Stuttgart on 4-8 June.
