Left out of AS Monaco’s squad for the opening day of Ligue 1 against Le Havre, Breel Embolo is reportedly attracting interest from several Italian clubs, including AC Milan and AS Roma.

Signed three seasons ago from the Bundesliga for around €13 million, the Swiss striker of Cameroonian descent has never fully lived up to the expectations placed upon him. Powerful and boasting tremendous work rate, the Swiss international turned heads from his first matches in Germany. However, a serious injury during the 2023/24 season halted his progress and reignited doubts about his future in the Principality.

According to L’Équipe, talks are underway as the player and club struggle to reach a contractual agreement. This situation could speed up his departure before the end of the transfer window. Since arriving in Monaco, Breel Embolo has played 88 matches, scoring 22 goals and providing 13 assists. Decent numbers, but considered insufficient compared to the initial expectations.
