As of this morning there were doubts surrounding whether two players would be involved for their respective national teams: Fikayo Tomori and Alvaro Morata.
MilanNews have now confirmed that Tomori will not be called up by Lee Carsley – the England national team coach until Thomas Tuchel takes over – for the UEFA Nations League commitments that the Three Lions will face against Greece and Ireland.
There was speculation that Tomori had been put on a stand-by list while the England medical staff evaluated the condition of some other defenders. While Trent Alexander-Arnold is now expected to leave the squad, the Milan centre-back won’t be replacing him.
Tomori, therefore, will be at Milanello tomorrow afternoon to take part in the scheduled training session as well as the one on Wednesday. Then he and the other non-internationals will enjoy four days off, with training resuming next Monday.
The same source also provides an update on Morata, who became the subject of some confusion involving Paulo Fonseca and the Spain coach De La Fuente.
The striker has been called up and will undergo the necessary tests by the medical staff of the Spanish national team. Based on the results, a decision will be made on whether or not to keep him in the camp.
Before the Cagliari game, Milan had sent the Spanish federation the hospital documentation that prescribed a 10-day break, since it was also what the UEFA protocol identifies as ‘concussion’.
