Miron Muslic has issued a message to Plymouth Argyle supporters ahead of the team’s big FA Cup clash with Manchester City.
The Pilgrims face a trip to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday to take on the current Premier League champions in the fifth round of the domestic cup competition.
The Championship side were the story of the fourth round, knocking out the champions-elect Liverpool.
They will have to repeat their cup upset feats again this weekend to keep this run going, with Muslic’s stock on the rise since taking over at Home Park.
He will be hoping his side lives up to that mantra when they travel to the top flight champions on Saturday, where supporters will no doubt be behind their run in the competition.
“Conviction. Commitment. Courage,” wrote Muslic, via his X account.
“It’s the game we [heart emoji].”
The FA Cup is proving a great distraction from Plymouth’s poor league season this year.
The Pilgrims are at risk of suffering relegation from the Championship, although recent form under Muslic has given some hope that survival can still be secured.
Since knocking Liverpool out of the FA Cup on 9 February with a 1-0 win at home, Plymouth have won one and drawn two from their four league games, moving them up to 22nd in the table.
The gap to safety is currently three points, with 12 games still remaining in the campaign.
This run of form in recent weeks has moved Plymouth above Derby County and Luton Town, with Muslic earning a lot of praise for their upturn in results.
The Devon outfit travel to City to face Pep Guardiola’s side on Saturday in a 5.45pm kick-off.
Man City’s season has unravelled this year compared to what they’ve become used to under Guardiola, meaning the FA Cup is all they really have left to play for.
Meanwhile, the win over Liverpool has given Plymouth the belief that they can salvage something from their campaign.
While survival is of great importance, continuing their run in this competition with a win on Saturday would be truly remarkable.
They will have to really dig in and be at their absolute best, but that win over the Reds will give them confidence that anything is possible at the Etihad this weekend.
