Milan will convene with Igli Tare to discuss his appointment as the new sporting director after the Fabio Paratici fiasco. The summit should go down either on Monday or Tuesday. The Rossoneri are also eyeing other candidates. However, they are all under contracts with other teams. Instead, the Albanian official left Lazio last June.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the exec already met owner Gerry Cardinale and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in London at the beginning of 2025. At the time, he appeared to be the main fallback should they fail to hire Andrea Berta, who picked Arsenal over them. However, CEO Giorgio Furlani stepped in and conducted his own search afterward.
Milan might make a final attempt to poach Giovanni Sartori from Bologna, Tony D’Amico from Atalanta, and Giovanni Manna from Napoli before finalizing things with Tare. They’d have to wait a couple of months to onboard the other three options, provided they convince them to leave their posts and reach agreements with their teams. It’s a tall order in all three cases.
According to the publication, the former Lazio director has Massimiliano Allegri at the top of his list for the bench. Sergio Conceiçao is doomed even should he mount a late comeback.
He always seemed the most logical endpoint since he was the easiest to sign. It’d be ironic if he felt scorned by the fact that they went after other execs after touching base with him. Despite their confusion, the opportunity is likely too prestigious to turn down for silly motives.
