AC Milan and Inter Milan remain united in their well-documented joint effort to build a new stadium in the San Siro district.

Milan mayor Giuseppe Sala addressed this burning issue on Rtl 102.5 via FCInter1908, offering a mind-blowing verdict.

It’s no secret that Milan and Inter are keen on constructing a state-of-the-art venue in the San Siro area.

However, talks with local authorities have progressed slowly.

Describing ongoing discussions as slow is a massive understatement.

Indeed, bureaucratic hurdles and political disagreements have made the process painstakingly difficult.

Despite both clubs’ unwavering commitment to the project, the city government’s resistance further complicates the matter.

With costs expected to exceed €1 billion, Milan and Inter must find common ground with the authorities to avoid further delays.

Milan Mayor Beppe Sala Delivers Update on Inter Bid to Build New Stadium in San Siro Area

While the San Siro remains one of Europe’s most iconic venues, Milan and Inter require a modern venue.

For what it’s worth, it will always remain a temple of Italian football.

However, changes, albeit painful, are sometimes necessary.

Therefore, Sala explained the current situation.

“The good thing is that Inter and Milan are back together, and there’s no other way,” Sala claimed.

“Building a stadium costs more than a billion, and if the two ownerships don’t work together, it won’t happen.

“At this point, I hope I have defended the old but beloved San Siro.

“We’re moving towards a new stadium that will be built next to San Siro, which will be repurposed for something else.

“We need to finalize the sale of San Siro and the surrounding areas, hopefully by the summer.”

Inter will not back down as Oaktree Capital intends to carry out this project.

That would be the American fund’s legacy at Inter.

But changes are a process that takes time and money in this case.
