More details have emerged about the revised project by Milan and Inter to build a new stadium in the San Siro area, tearing down most of the current one. It’ll have €71.5k seats, with a lot more corporate ones, which are very profitable. The whole shebang will cost €1.2B, Il Fatto Quotidiano reports.

The City has issued the decree to sell the zone for €197M. The price was set by the income revenue authority. The local DA’s office has already opened an inquiry about it to see if everything is in order. The bidding will last until April 30th. There don’t appear to be other buyers besides the two clubs.

The negotiation and the next steps for the new San Siro between Milan, Inter, and the Mayor will go down in May. Ideally, the sale will be finalized before some historical and cultural restrictions on parts of the present arena kick in.

The official timeline foresees the completion of the construction works in 2031. The stadium on its own requires a €707,9M investment. Instead, the teams estimated that a complete renovation would be pricier, €836,7M.

If the blueprint put together by Milan and Inter doesn’t change, the new San Siro would be smaller than the current one but still able to host the Champions League final. Such a fact and the focus on the corporate seats, which would be 9/10k, has raised eyebrows already. The additional €500M would be for building new parks, restaurants, a hotel, a museum, and shops, including one in the portion of the Curva Sud that can’t be demolished.
