Facing Thomas Thomasberg and his Wolves

We have an important chance to test ourselves during our training camp - on Wednesday 15 January 2025, we are facing FC Midtjylland, who are currently second in the Danish league, at 15:00 local time (16:00 Austrian time). The match will be played at the Estadio Algarve, which was the venue for three EURO 2004 fixtures in Portugal. The game will be an important one with our first competitive match of 2025 to follow a week later against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.

Piatkowski in, Clark there and Schlager back

There is good news with the recently injured Kamil Piatkowski returning to team training and Bobby Clark (recently ill) having arrived to the training camp.

Alexander Schlager, who had to spend a few days in bed with a viral infection, returned to training on Tuesday on an individual basis.

FC Midtjylland overview

  • The Wolves have existed in their current form since 1999, when a merger of two clubs formed the current entity. They have claimed four Danish titles so far, most recently in 2023/24.
  • Midtjylland's squad has an estimated market value of over €80 million, with their most valuable player Franculino out injured against us.
  • Just like us, the Danish side's first competitive match of the new year will take place next week on the European stage. Thomas Thomasberg's side are currently 23rd in the UEFA Europa League and in a play-off spot.

Our training camp has gone very well, so far. We have fantastic conditions, and the boys are all playing a full part. One disappointment has been that a few players were ill at the start. They are starting to come back though. We will try to cover everything we can in training in the short time before the Real Madrid match.
