Middlesbrough: Tommy Conway drops "carnage" claim on Liverpool loanee Ben Doak | OneFootball

Ben Doak provided both of Conway's two goals in Boro's 3-1 win over Hull City, prompting the ex-Bristol City striker to heap praise on the winger.

Middlesbrough striker Tommy Conway has described his Scotland international and Boro teammate Ben Doak as a "dream" to play with, as the Liverpool loanee continues his highly impressive campaign at the Riverside Stadium.

Still just 19, Doak has been a revelation for Michael Carrick's Middlesbrough side so far this season and is well on his way to establishing himself as one of the best players in the Championship this term.

The Liverpool starlet is proving vital to Boro's success, as it's hard to deny how much better a side they look when the young Scot is on the pitch, as he's got the better of pretty much every full-back he's come up against so far.

One of the latest beneficiaries of Doak's scintillating performances is his national team comrade Conway, as the pair linked up for two of Boro's goals in their recent 3-1 victory over Hull City.

Fresh off the back of that display, Middlesbrough's summer signing from Bristol City has been speaking about what it's like to play with Doak, and there are no prizes for guessing whether it's a positive or negative experience.

"I love him"

Doak was the provider for both of Conway's two goals against the Tigers last weekend, as Middlesbrough picked up a crucial three points after a frustrating 1-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers prior.

Speaking with The Northern Echo in the aftermath of the win, Conway said of Doak: "I love him. Not only does he cause carnage on the pitch and create for me and the other boys, but off the pitch too, he’s a good mate of mine.

​"For him to get two assists for me was massive. I was glad I managed to put them away for him as well. He just said in the dressing room he’s going to send me the invoice, but I pointed out, ‘I still had to do a little bit for you'​​​​​​.

"I really enjoy playing with him. You always know he’ll create something which, for me as a striker, is a dream. It gives me confidence and makes me always be on my toes, thinking about my next movement.

"Rather than wondering, ‘is he going to go back?’ you know his strengths and what he’s going to be doing. The key is making sure I’m in the box and timing my runs correctly so that I’m on the end of them."

It might be a case of pick your poison in terms of which Middlesbrough player puts the ball in the net, but it's Doak who always seems to be on hand to administer it.

As Conway has stated, having a player like Doak in the team is a striker's dream but for the Liverpool winger, playing in a side that has as many goal threats as Boro's does, is the desire of any wide player.

Other wingers around the Championship must look on at Doak's position with extreme envy, as whether it's the two strikers in Conway and Emmanuel Latte Lath, the superb Finn Azaz in the number 10 role, the box-to-box Hayden Hackney or the ever-dangerous Riley McGree, there are opportunities to provide goals everywhere you look.

This is also his first season as a definitive starter in his senior career and a crucial one at that. Some players can shy away from that and require time to build up their confidence levels, but for Doak, carrying a significant load in Middlesbrough's promotion quest appears to be something that he's truly embracing.
