The Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, has stressed again how positive he thinks it would be for both Inter and AC Milan to remain in the San Siro area of the city.

Talk about new stadiums has ignited again in recent weeks with neither club seeming any closer to getting what they want, or even being 100% sure what they want.

On the sidelines of the presentation of the Canoe World Championships at Idroscalo (via La Gazzetta dello Sport), Sala spoke again about how much he would like to see the footballing powerhouses of Milan stay in San Siro, rather than head to other areas of the city.

“I can only say that I see every possible solution that leads to the coexistence of the two teams [in the San Siro area] as a positive thing,” Sala said.

Representatives from both clubs are going to be meeting with Sala tomorrow at Palazzo Marino where they will discuss all of the various options on the table.

The two clubs now seem more open to sticking with one another than they were before, but renovating the existing stadium still seems an unpopular option because of how much money it would cost.

As Sala explained, there are many options open to the clubs right now and he is yet to find out what Inter or Milan respectively would like to do.

“The game is wide open, I don’t know what the teams want to do, I’m waiting for formal confirmation. You can do anything but you have to go decisively in one direction, when a decision has been made I will then be at their side. Today, however, there are still many options open,” he said.
