Maurizio Sarri didn’t like what he saw from several Lazio players in the latest friendly against Avellino, especially from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
Several Biancocelesti stars were reprimanded by the manager during the contest in Frosinone, especially the Nigerian midfielder who failed to follow the instructions. The 24-year-old was considered too static, as he was supposed to insert himself into the team’s attacks and offer an additional body in the final third.
According to Il Messaggero, Sarri may have seen enough already, so he’s now reflecting on new solutions to revamp the middle of the park. The newspaper claims that the 66-year-old is considering moving Nicolo Rovella to a more advanced role, acting as a box-to-box midfielder alongside Matteo Guendouzi.

As the source explains, Sarri is a fan of the Italy international, and he believes he possesses the required technical attributes to play a role that could be slightly similar to Luis Alberto’s, as he feels that the team has been lacking a quality touch in this area since the departure of the Spanish ‘magician’.
This solution would also allow the manager to reinstate his old favourite, Danilo Cataldi, in the starting lineup. The returning Lazio youth product would act as a shield in front of the defence, allowing Rovella and Guendouzi to push forward.
Sarri has also been testing Reda Belahyane as a box-to-box midfielder, but the report notes that the young Moroccan has been taking too much time on the ball, so he still has a long way to go before adapting to the manager’s playing style.
