We can’t help but be positive after Chelsea’s 5-0 win over West Ham.

In that victory, and in the win over Tottenham in midweek, and in the second half of the draw with Aston Villa last week, we saw some great football, and overall some great commitment from the players.

Some of those who have been guilty of not going 100% at times really didn’t hold back, and despite a lack of options on the bench those selected stepped up to the challenge and got us 7 really big points which may have earned us European football next season.

We will need to keep up this good form in the final 3 games, but that looks more than possible given the opposition we’re facing. Brighton, Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth are all beatable, and there’s more good news to come.

Today saw a host of first team players returning from injury to the bench, and by next weekend there should be a much bigger pool for Mauricio Pochettino to choose from.

Malo Gusto trains at Cobham

A whole new world of team selection

Pochettino should have Malo Gusto back in the first team, then Christopher Nkunku on the bench. Who else could force their way into the team? It’s difficult to see Marc Cucurella being dropped for Levi Colwill or Ben Chilwell in this form.

Mykhailo Mudryk isn’t doing great, and perhaps Nkunku could threaten his place on the left, or the returning Raheem Sterling.

Pochettino won’t want to mess with this winning formula he’s stumbled upon, so barring injury the only change we forsee, despite the host of new options, is Gusto coming back in. It then becomes a decision between Thiago Silva and Benoit Badiashile to partner Trevoh Chalobah in the centre.

€31m man Gusto was in hot form before his injury and is the only natural right back we’ve got while Reece James is out.
