Mauricio Pochettino has already suggested a move to Manchester United is just a matter of time.

The Red Devils are on high alert after the 52-year-old left Chelsea after just a year on Tuesday, having led the Blues to a top-six finish during a turbulent season at Stamford Bridge.

While the former Ajax boss will lead his side into the FA Cup final on Saturday, there have been suggestions he will be sacked even if beats rivals Manchester City at Wembley.

Pochettino’s sudden availability may appeal to United part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is understood to value the Argentine’s view on football.

Having constantly been touted as a potential United manager thanks to his attacking brand of football and ability to work with younger players, Pochettino addressed the links back in 2022.

Speaking to Marca, he said: “Soccer is 'timing'. These are the moments for it to coincide and for that marriage to happen. Sometimes it's just a question of time. I don't believe in trains passing only once. I think that sometimes you have to have the necessary patience and you have to know how to wait.

He added: "The 'timing' is handled by football, it is true that my name has always been associated with big clubs. I have a lot of respect for professionals and it's hard for me to sell myself, that's work for you."
