Matt Law’s piece for the Daily Telegraph this morning was pretty interesting because it launched the prospect of a late Chelsea bid for Conrad Harder.
The Sporting striker is up for sale and Chelsea are considering signing him rather than cancelling Nicolas Jackson’s loan move to Bayern Munich, which was 90% done when Liam Delap picked up a hamstring injury yesterday to throw the Blues’ plans into disarray.

There is another option mentioned in the piece if Chelsea want to salvage Jackson’s lucrative loan to Germany – terminating Marc Guiu’s Sunderland switch.
The young Spaniard was a backup striker for us last season and was only allowed to head to the North East on loan because we had 3 options up front.
Law says that it won’t be an easy thing to do – there is no early termination clause in the loan, so we would have to negotiate his release with the Black Cats. The Catalan has started just once for Sunderland – in the Carabao Cup – and doesn’t look like he’s going to get a lot of useful minutes this season if he stays. Ironically, he might get more at Chelsea. They could then loan him out again in January once Delap is back and playing regularly.
The whole piece is very worrying, with Law claiming that a scan on Delap’s hamstring in the next 48 hours could rule him out for a really significant period. One other option the journalist suggests is Bayern paying for Jackson now rather than loaning him, thus handing Chelsea enough liquid cash to buy a replacement.
With just over 24 hours until the window closes, everything is up in the air. It’s exciting, no doubt.
