After Florent Ghisolfi’s departure, Roma announced the return of Massara as sporting director.
The executive, fresh from his experiences with Milan and Rennes, inherits a complex situation, with budgetary urgency.
The central issue concerns capital gains, essential to respect the constraints imposed by the UEFA Settlement Agreement.
According to Il Messaggero, Roma must generate an additional 10 million euros by the end of June to avoid a fine from the European football organization. A goal that requires rapid and targeted interventions on the outgoing market.
So far, the new sporting director has been able to count on some already concluded operations.
The sale of Le Fée to Sunderland, that of Zalewski to Inter and the transfer of Dahl to Benfica have generated a total of around 17 million euros in capital gains.
To this sum could soon be added the negotiations being finalized for Paredes, destined for Boca Juniors, which would bring another 3.5 million.
Despite these movements, the sum is still not enough to fully cover the objective set by the agreements with UEFA.
Massara, therefore, is called upon to accelerate on the exit front and, at the same time, to plan moves to strengthen the squad.
