Marseille move on from Paulo Fonseca with other candidates being considered | OneFootball

According to Le Parisien, Marseille have moved on from pursuing Lille manager Paulo Fonseca despite previously making him their priority target to be the next manager at the Stade Vélodrome.

OM had pursued the Lille head coach for several weeks as they tried to persuade him to join Les Olympiens. However, it now appears that growing pessimism is hanging over their pursuit with other candidates for the role now being considered. Paulo Fonseca has also been courted by AC Milan and wants the job at the San Siro, according to Fabrizio Romano. Talks between the former Roma manager and the Rossoneri are progressing well.

An extension with Lille a possibility?

Fonseca hasn’t ruled out the possibility of extending his stay with Lille, Le Parisien reports. The former Porto head coach has not always had the rosiest of relationships with Lille president Olivier Létang but could opt to reject the interest from other clubs and stay at the Stade Pierre Mauroy for another season.
