Enzo Maresca believes Chelsea need their supporters even more at Stamford Bridge than they do away from home.

A lot has been made of the atmosphere at home games and in the few games the Blues have had at home this season there’s been a lot of moaning and groaning especially when the team try to build up from the back.

Chelsea are yet to win at home in the league this season and Maresca will be hoping to record his first Premier League win at Stamford Bridge against Brighton on Saturday afternoon.

In stark contrast the away support has been brilliant this season, helped by the fact the Blues have won all three of their games on the road.

The players really appreciate the support and having that positive atmosphere from the stands clearly drives them on to perform better.

At the end of away games the squad go over and applaud the fans, who in turn show their appreciation and Maresca has spoken on the importance of the fans, especially at home games.

“We need our fans, we need them, we need this kind of relationship with the players,” he told Chelsea’s website.

“I really like the moment at the end of the game when we win a game and can share that moment with the fans.

“It is a nice moment for the players, it is a nice moment for the fans and even for us.

“Unfortunately, we cannot go there as a staff and enjoy that moment [but] we work every day to share that moment at the end with the fans so hopefully we can have that very soon at home and share with all of our fans.
