Villa’s on loan forward has now missed the last two games through injury
Marcus Rashford is absent from the Aston Villa squad for today’s Premier League clash against Fulham, although there is hope he will play again this season.
Rashford missed last weekend’s FA Cup semi-final loss to Crystal Palace through injury as confirmed by Unai Emery ahead of kick-off.
It has since been revealed that the forward is suffering with a hamstring issue that was thought to have brought a premature end to his 2024/2025 campaign.
However, when speaking to the media before Villa vs Fulham, Emery revealed he is not giving up hope of having Rashford playing for the club before the season is over.
Emery said: “For tomorrow, he is not available. He is working to come back as soon as possible.
“He is still weeks [away] to be available. Hopefully, he will play with us one or two matches.”
After the visit of Fulham, Rashford will only be eligible to feature against Bournemouth and Tottenham should he return to full fitness within the next fortnight.
This is because as per Premier League loan rules, he cannot face parent club Manchester United on the final day of the season.
Rashford has rejuvenated his career at Villa Park following his loan move from the Red Devils in January.
Though whilst Villa have an option to make to turn the deal permanent one in the summer for £40million, Emery has refused to be drawn on what the future holds for the 27-year-old.
“Tomorrow is Fulham. We don't want to finish the season - we want to play,” the Spaniard said in response to be asked if Rashford will be a Villa player next season.
“Hopefully, he can help us. He is recovering with us here. I want to see him happy. Then we will speak about it.”
