Aston Villa are picking up momentum ahead of their first-leg quarterfinal showdown with Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League.
On Wednesday, Unai Emery and his squad played one of two matches before heading to Paris next week. Villa traveled to the American Express Stadium to face Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Lions secured a dominant 3-0 victory, and although Marco Asensio didn’t score, they followed that up with a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest this past weekend. However, questions about whether the English side will retain the player long-term are starting to surface.

Back at the Parc on Wednesday under the colors of Aston Villa, L’Equipe reports that Marco Asensio “does not wish to return” to PSG at the end of his loan.
A wish that will likely be granted, as not only do the Villans want to keep him, but several clubs have contacted Paris to express their interest.
Asensio’s loan to Aston Villa doesn’t include an option to make the move permanent, but according to Estadio Deportivo, Unai Emery has told sporting director Monchi to do everything possible to secure his signature.
The 29-year-old, who has previously played for Real Madrid, reportedly has a €15 million (£13 million) release clause, a figure that should not pose much of a challenge for the Premier League side.
