Manchester United’s winter transfer business is yet to catch fire with just days left inn the January window.

Both incomings and outcomings were expected at Old Trafford but only Brazilian winger Antony has left the club with no one officially through the doors, as yet.

United have been linked with a raft of players but can scratch the name of Xavi Simon’s off their shortlist with the attacking midfielder signing a permanent deal with Bundesliga side, RB Leipzig.

Transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news with a post on his X account.

The Germans will pay an €80m package with a €55m initial fee to be made up by future add-ons plus a sell-on clause.

Having shelled out for Georgian star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia this month, PSG have now practically balanced their books in Paris and will be very satisfied with their winter business.

United were not heavily linked with the Simons this month but he has been a long standing target for the club, who may have looked to reignite their interest in the summer.

However, any dream of Simons in a United shirt now looks to be over given his big money move.

United are desperate to add numbers and quality to their front line with Amorim’s side struggling to make, and take, chances at present.

Coupled with the likelihood of losing Marcus Rashford in the coming days, the Portuguese head coach could really do with some extra firepower in his ranks.

It’s expected United will complete the signing of wing-back Patrick Dorgu from Lecce before the window shuts but do still have their eyes open for a forward player.

However, with time running out, Amorim may have to make do with his current crop and navigate his way to the end of the season before diving into the summer market.

United are back in action this evening as they travel to Bucharest to round off their Europe League first round schedule against FCSB.
