Manchester United have made a bit of a habit of breaking the worst kind of records after Sir Alex Ferguson’s tenure.

The biggest one yet broke with the listless defeat away to Crystal Palace being the club’s 13th in the league, a club record for most defeats in a Premier League season.

Overall, this is the most in 35 years, and with the team playing very tricky three fixtures next, an unbreakable mark could be set.

Arsenal, Brighton, and Newcastle are next and in current form and injury crisis, there is a real chance that United have already won the last game of this season.

The injuries are a mitigating factor, but the manner of defeat will leave a sour taste in the mouth of many United fans.

Erik ten Hag’s job security has long been thought of as hinging on the FA Cup final but if this performance against Palace is repeated three more times before that game, he might not even be in the dugout for it.

They have already conceded more than 80 goals this season and with the amount of shots they concede every game, it’s lucky that the figure is only 81.

The goal difference in the league only creeps towards the positive before the next battering brings it back down in the negative.

The team is bereft of ideas and quality in attack, players are falling like a deck of cards, and the manager seems to be out of his depth.

INEOS have shown patience so far and to their credit, their off-field decisions have been encouraging but allowing a manager to stay after a literal record-breaking bad season could see the new era hit a snag before it even begins.

Four games, including one final. It seems like only four wins will do anything to somewhat calm the noise.

With how United played against Palace today, not many fans will be holding their breath over it.
