Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford in a £71 million deal.
The 25-year-old is the second player to join the club this summer following the arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Mbeumo enjoyed a brilliant 2024/25 campaign, bagging 20 goals and eight assists in the Premier League.
He was a key figure in Brentford’s attack, starting every league match as they secured a top-half finish.
Since Brentford reached the Premier League, the Cameroon international has averaged 18 goal contributions each season.
“As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams – the team whose shirt I wore growing up,” Mbeumo said.
“My mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday. I know that I have the spirit and character to reach another level here, learning from Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class players.”
Amorim has been keen to add pace, power and goals to his front line. Mbeumo ticks those boxes.
He started his professional career at Troyes before moving to Brentford in 2019 and has since developed into one of the most consistent forwards in the league.
The forward will now link up with his new teammates as preparations continue for the 2025/26 season.
He will be in the squad for United’s opening Premier League fixture against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
The club’s supporters will be eager to see how the new-look attack takes shape under Amorim, who is preparing for his first full campaign in charge.
