Manchester United players aren’t too keen on the prospect of Jadon Sancho returning next season, as per reports.
Sancho is away on loan at Stamford Bridge, yet, the Englishman has got fans at Old Trafford talking in recent weeks after it emerged that Chelsea have an option to send him back to United.
Last summer, Chelsea signed the 25-year-old on loan for the remainder of the season with an obligation to buy him for a fee in the region of £25 million.
However, it is understood that the Blues can opt out of the agreement by paying a £5m penalty.
Sancho has endured a difficult campaign in London, having managed just two goals in 19 starts under Enzo Maresca. The situation has led to suggestions of a potential return to Manchester.
According to the Manchester Evening News, United players “would have major misgivings about the remote possibility of Jadon Sancho playing for the club again as they do not believe he is good enough.”
Sancho joined United in 2021 in a deal worth £72.9m from Borussia Dortmund under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
However, he failed to cement his place in the starting lineup at the club under different managers.
Further, the England international got on the wrong side of Erik ten Hag and found himself frozen out of the first team.
It is suggested that “influential figures” in the United squad have no issue with his personality but “felt he was unable to cope with demands” of playing for the Premier League giants before he fell out with the now ex-United manager.
At this point, Chelsea have not indicated they intend to send Sancho back to United.
However, even if he returns, it is very likely that the Red Devils would look to immediately sell him, with his contract due to expire in the summer of 2026.
