Manchester United make enquiry for Julen Lopetegui | OneFootball

Premier League giants Manchester United have made an enquiry about former Spain boss and Milan target Julen Lopetegui.

The Rossoneri seem keen on landing Lopetegui despite online protests and petitions from their fans about the Spaniard’s hiring. It was reported yesterday that a draft agreement between Milan and Lopetegui is already in place and talks could be stepped up soon.

Corriere della Sera today have reported about the situation of Lopetegui, who is leading the race to be Milan’s next manager but the Rossoneri are still making attempts to overtake Juventus in the move for Thiago Motta. The Bianconeri are said to be calculating their financials about how to pay off Max Allegri and then pay off the money they have to pay to Cristiano Ronaldo. As a result, they haven’t reached a pre-agreement for Motta and Milan want to take advantage of that.

Lopetegui has kept an offer from West Ham already on hold as he favours Milan over the Hammers. But the offer from West Ham is financially quite prominent and it has been doubled in recent hours by the London club. In the meantime, United have also made an enquiry about the Spaniard, as they could also be looking for a new manager in the summer.

Milan’s alternatives for Lopetegui happen to be Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi and Lille boss Paulo Fonseca.
