Manchester United-linked Graham Potter has turned down the opportunity to become Ajax manager, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

Potter is known to have been impressed by the Dutch giants but felt the project was not right for him.

The English boss has been out of a job since being sacked by Chelsea in April last year.

He replaced Thomas Tuchel in September 2022 but failed to deliver results for the Blues.

The 48-year-old won only 39 percent of his games in all competitions during his time at Stamford Bridge, making him one of their worst managers in the Premier League era.

Potter has been linked with Man United who are likely to dismiss their current manager Erik ten Hag.

The Dutch boss did an excellent job in his debut campaign but is under pressure after a dismal season.

Winning the FA Cup may still save his job, but victory against Manchester City in the final looks unlikely on the back of their recent displays.

Potter enjoyed an impressive managerial stint at Brighton & Hove Albion but his failure at Chelsea shows he is unsuitable to manage an elite club.
