Ederson is putting together a tremendous season at Atalanta, drawing the attention of Manchester United. The Red Devils have scouted him a few times and are setting the stage for a possible future pursuit, Sky Deutschland reports (via Calciomercato).
The 25-year-old has been on an upward trajectory since moving to Italy, more precisely to Salernitana, for €6.5M from Corinthians in January 2022. La Dea acquired him six months later for €23M. He has accumulated 112 appearances since, scoring 10 goals and providing 3 assists. He has logged two caps with Brazil.
Ederson is tied to Atalanta until 2027, and the team is wary that the offers, from Manchester United or other sides, might be tough to resist at the end of the season. They ask for him about the same fee they wanted for Teun Koopmeiners, €50/60M. They have more leverage in this case as the Dutchman had less time left on his deal before leaving.
The Red Devils recently changed their coach and parted ways with director Dan Ashworth. They are evaluating their squad first and foremost. Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini joked about his star in a recent interview.
“We try to build our champions rather than signing them like we did with him and Ademola Lookman. We hope they don’t become too good, or some teams might lure them away.”
There probably isn’t a player better suited to take the Premier League by storm rgiven his muscularity and dynamism, and he has improved leaps and bounds in the final third. If he keeps going, his price tag might exceed Koopmeiners’. The two sides have already cooked up some big-money deals in the past.
