Initially interested in Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, Manchester United are now considering Morten Hjulmand as an option to bolster their midfield this season.

Morten Hjulmand, the 26-year-old Danish midfielder and captain—the backbone of Sporting Lisbon—has emerged as a top priority for the Red Devils should the Baleba deal fall through. United have been held back in their pursuit of Baleba by Brighton’s steep financial demands.
The relationship between Hjulmand and coach Ruben Amorim, formerly of Sporting, could help smooth the deal. Last season, Hjulmand featured in 47 matches, netted 3 goals, and provided 2 assists, missing just 6 league games.
