Manchester United could pounce for Antonee Robinson should Fulham win Ferdi Kadıoğlu transfer race | OneFootball

Manchester United are currently prioritising the midfield as an area in need of urgent reinforcements but Erik ten Hag still remains short on numbers at left-back as well.

Luke Shaw is set to be sidelined until the international break next month while Tyrell Malacia is not expected back before October.

Noussair Mazraoui, signed from Bayern Munich, can play on the left if needed while it was Diogo Dalot’s turn to fill in at that position against Fulham.

It was a similar scenario last season as well with the England international missing over 30 games while Ten Hag’s first signing missed the entire campaign.

LB needed but INEOS won’t make a move

Sergio Reguilon came in on loan but his temporary stint was cut short in January. There were murmurs United might go down a similar route this summer as well with the Spaniard’s name getting a mention.

However, The Peoples Person recently relayed that INEOS are not currently thinking about paying a large sum for a left-sided full-back with Manuel Ugarte expected to be the final piece of the puzzle.

That is why Ben Chilwell, who has been offered to the 20-time English league champions, is not expected to be heading to Old Trafford this window.

It is for the same reason United ended their pursuit of Fenerbahce’s Ferdi Kadıoğlu, who seemed to be heading towards Brighton after agreeing personal terms with the Seagulls.

But now, as per Turkish outlet As Marca, the Cottagers have entered the race for the Turkish star and are willing to place a higher bid in order to beat the team from the south coast.

If the London side manage to win the race for the Turkiye international, Antonee Robinson could be let go and United are reportedly interested.

Fulham star being eyed

“Fulham offered €34+5 million to Fenerbahçe for Ferdi Kadıoğlu this morning. Fenerbahçe have been asking for €40+5 million since the beginning.

“Brighton will also make a new offer for Ferdi. Manchester United want Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson,” the report read on X (formerly Twitter).

This news directly contradicts what was reported earlier and unless the US international was made available on a loan, this looks highly unlikely.

United have simply spent too much and with a deal for Ugarte seeming likely, they need to balance their books in order to steer clear of PSR concerns.

Shaw’s injury-prone nature coupled with Malacia’s struggles and Mazraoui’s poor record of staying fit might force INEOS into a rethink later on but for now, there are no plans to recruit a left-back.
