In a recent report, Fichajes revealed that Manchester United are set to rival Newcastle United for Real Madrid keeper Andriy Lunin. It has been stated that the Red Devils are eyeing a move to bring the Ukrainian custodian to Old Trafford this summer.

Lunin’s Recent Season In Spanish Football

Lunin served as a useful squad player for the Madrid club in the previous campaign and managed to put in a few solid performances for them in La Liga. The Ukraine international featured in 14 matches for Real Madrid last season, conceding 19 goals and keeping six clean sheets across all competitions.

The 26-year-old needs to earn regular first-team starts if he wants to get his career back on track. Hence, a switch to Man United might appeal to him in this summer transfer window.

Lunin is under contract at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium until the summer of 2030, which could make it tough for the Red Devils to sign him on a cut-price deal this off-season.

Is Lunin A Decent Fit For Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim?

Lunin can be a safe pair of hands in goal when he is playing regularly on the field. He is a solid handler of the ball and can use his quick reflexes to make some important saves at the back for his team.

Standing at 1.91m, the Ukraine international is a dominant presence inside his penalty area. However, he has to find a way to earn more first-team starts if he wants to make the most out of the remainder of his career.

Lunin would no doubt enhance the quality of Man United boss Ruben Amorim’s backline. He is good enough to nail down a regular first-team spot at the Mancunian club next season.

At 26, Lunin has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a great fit for Man United’s needs in the long run. He would also serve as an upgrade over Andre Onana, who has struggled to be consistent at Old Trafford thus far. Lunin might even help the Red Devils get back to challenging for a European spot in the Premier League over the next few years. Thus, Amorim should focus on getting him on board soon.
