Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi is now among the transfer targets Manchester United are considering this summer.
Ruben Amorim is assessing the goalkeeper market amid reservations over Andre Onana’s performances at Old Trafford.
There is interest in Onana from AS Monaco and the Saudi Pro League and the Red Devils are looking at potential options to upgrade in goal.
Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez is under consideration, though the Argentina international has a £40m asking price.
Martinez is expected to leave Villa Park this summer as the club look to improve their Premier League Profit and Sustainability leeway for investment.
His status as a Premier League proven talent appeals to Manchester United. However, given Martinez will turn 33 in September, alternatives are being discussed.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that Carnesecchi is a player of interest. The Atalanta goalkeeper broke into the team in 2023/24 and helped the Italian side to Europa League success.
This season, he ranked fifth in Serie A for saves as Atalanta secured Champions League qualification for next season. The 24-year-old is considered a longer-term option than Martinez and is valued at around €40m (£34m) in Bergamo.
