Manchester United cruised to a 3-2 victory over Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League. Here are our player ratings from the game.
(A score of 6 is around average)
Andre Onana 5 – Should have perhaps done better for Bodo/Glimt’s second goal. Ball went through his legs. Important save at the death to keep the free-kick from going in.
Noussair Mazraoui 8 – Amazing footballer. Solid in the right-centre-back role and fantastic cross for the equaliser just before the break. Kept the ball well and his passing was superb. One of United’s best signings in recent years.
Matthijs de Ligt 5 – Laboured performance at times but didn’t do too much wrong.
Lisandro Martinez 4 – Didn’t cover himself in glory for both of Bodo/Glimt’s first-half strikes. Went walkabout for their first and was also very high up the pitch for the second, failing to provide any cover whatsoever for Malacia.
Antony 3 – Doesn’t work as a winger, doesn’t work as a wing-back. Very predictable and his defender was very comfortable. Didn’t contribute much bar a few exchanges on the right with Mount.
Manuel Ugarte 9 – Imperious in the middle of the park. Even when United came under a bit of pressure, he was one of the side’s better performers. Cleaned up everything in midfield and progressed the ball well in places. Good run inside the box before squaring the ball to a darting Hojlund, who made no mistake as he guided it into the back of the net.
Bruno Fernandes 5 – Struggled at times and wasn’t very influential in the deeper role.
Tyrell Malacia 2 – Burnt for pace during Bodo/Glimt’s second goal. Got some space and time in forward areas but couldn’t do much. Very rusty but that’s to be expected of a player starting for the first time in 550 days. Rightfully taken off at half-time.
Mason Mount 6 – Worked hard during the press. Unlucky not to score as his shot hit the crossbar.
Alejandro Garnacho 7 – Reacted the quickest to tap in the ball after Hojlund snatched the ball from the goalkeeper. His finishing remains a big issue, squandered two or three very clear-cut opportunities that could have secured the victory for United very early. Seems to be intent on hitting a right-foot curler but makes things difficult for himself in the process.
Rasmus Hojlund 9 – Excellent pressing early on for Garnacho’s goal. Incredible touch and finish to restore parity before making a brilliant run to get on the end of Ugarte’s cross for his brace. Hopefully he goes on a run now.
Diogo Dalot 4 – Some very sloppy passes when he came on. One could have probably set Amad on his way for an attack while the other one to Fernandes, ended up sparking a Bodo/Glimt attack.
Marcus Rashford 6 – Lively when he came on. Could have got on the score sheet but dragged his effort wide.
Amad Diallo 7 – Electric! Made the right flank a more threatening avenue in comparison to when Antony was on the pitch. Put his defender to work and also had one or two sights of goal himself.
Luke Shaw 6 – Comfortable at left-centre-back.
Casemiro 5 – Slotted in at the heart of United’s backline and helped the team get over the line.
