Manchester City make the trip to Real Madrid looking to turn around their Champions League play-off tie.
A dramatic 3-2 defeat at the Etihad means Pep Guardiola’s team trail heading into the return. Two goals from Erling Haaland had City on course for a first-leg win, but late goals from Brahim Diaz and Jude Bellingham saw the Spaniards prevail.
City are seeking just a second win at the Bernabeu and first in five years. Guardiola’s team will take confidence from Saturday’s 4-0 thrashing of Newcastle at the Etihad, that saw January recruit Omar Marmoush hit a hat-trick.
Real Madrid arrive into the contest off the back of a disappointing draw with Osasuna. Jude Bellingham’s first-half red card contributed to dropped points in the La Liga title race.
Pep Guardiola has been handed a huge boost with Erling Haaland in training ahead of the clash. Haaland jarred his knee against Newcastle at the weekend but joined in with the main group on Tuesday.
Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake and Jack Grealish were also involved despite being absent at the weekend. Rodri remains a long-term absentee as the Spaniard recovers from an ACL injury sustained in September. Manuel Akanji and Oscar Bobb join the Ballon d’Or winner in the treatment room.
Manchester City predicted XI: Ederson; Nunes, Stones, Dias, Gvardiol; Gonzalez, Kovacic, De Bruyne; Foden, Marmoush, Haaland.
Real Madrid host Manchester City in the second leg of their Champions League play-off tie on Wednesday 19th February 2025. Kick-off in at the Bernabeu is 20:00 GMT.
The game is live in the UK on TNT Sports 1.
